How to Apply for Birthday Support

Who Is Eligible?
The Happy Birthday Program supports children and families in the Greater Moncton Area who are experiencing financial hardship. To help us distribute support fairly, families must meet the following requirements.
1. Location
The child must reside in the Greater Moncton Area or a nearby surrounding community.Â

2. Age
Birthday support is available for children and youth celebrating their 1st through 18th birthday.Â
​
3. Financial Need
The family must be experiencing financial hardship or circumstances that make providing a birthday celebration difficult without additional support.

4. Verification
Families must be able to provide information or documentation that allows us to verify eligibility for the program. The type of verification required may vary depending on the family's circumstances.
What Birthday Support Includes
Approved children may be matched with a community sponsor who shops with their individual interests, wishes and needs in mind.
A birthday sponsorship includes, at minimum:

• Something they want - a gift chosen with their interests and wishes in mind
• Something they need - a practical item specifically requested for the child
• Something to read - an-age appropriate book
• Something to wear - clothing, footwear or another wearable item

• Cake supplies - supplies to help make a birthday cake or treat at home
• Birthday decorations - decorations to help make their day festive
​
Sponsors may choose to include additional items, but these are never required. While we do our best to honour each child's preferences and wishes, specific items within each category cannot be guaranteed.Â
Before You Apply
Please apply at least six weeks before your child's birthday, but families are welcome -and encouraged- to apply earlier. This gives us time to review your application, coordinate your sponsor match and allow time for shopping and birthday preparations. Applications submitted less than six weeks before a child's birthday may not be accepted, even if your family otherwise meets the program's eligibility requirements.

Please note: Approval for The Happy Birthday Program does not guarantee a sponsor match. Matches depend on sponsor availability and the program's available resources.

Applying for more than one child? Please follow the instructions provided throughout the application carefully. If you are applying for birthday support for more than one child in your household, the form will guide you through the steps to submit all their information and ensure your family's applications are properly connected.Â
